Rethink the rules

RETHINK THE RULES

Recovering from all the carnival festivities in my neighbourhood today.
Last night was fun, me & my boyfriend watched and danced from our balcony overlooking
the craziness below. We considered going down there to join in. We really did.
But when it came down to it, neither of us could be bothered. We were having more fun from above.
I have never seen people consuming copious amounts of margaritas jump on a
moving van converted to a disco before. It was as funny as it sounds...

Lazy Sundays

Lazy Sundays

| Dress - Topshop | Floral scarf - Aeropostale | Heels - Christian Louboutin |

I love this Topshop dress, it's so easy to wear and mix and match with different things.
I choose to style it with these gorgeous shoes and pretty floral scarf, which would be perfect for the
near ending of summer...
Where is the summer going? Where has 2013 gone actually?
I know they say "time goes faster as you get older", "blink and you'll be 40..." and so on
but come onnnn!? Is it just me???

Recently in Barcelona the temperature has really dropped, which quickly reminded me
of England.
When I left England I was very excited at the thought of leaving - like anywhere when you stay for too long. After moving around the country and then finally to London, I felt like my time in England was coming to an end.
But as the saying goes, "You don't know what you had, until it's gone."
Today, I have suddenly realised how I actually miss that freshness in the air, the magical misty
mornings, the greenery, forests, lush gardens, the rain (yes, the rain) and randomly, the supermarkets.
What I would do for a Waitrose or M&S ready meal right now... Anyone who doesn't
come from England, youtube a Marks & Spencer food advert and you'll understand. The other day someone told me that British food has a bad reputation? I think they have been going to the wrong places haha!
Anyways, nostalgia over.
Here is a super cool outfit which would be perfectly suited to a lunch in a beautiful garden restaurant
(as I was imagining!)

Lady of leisure

Lady of leisure

| Blouse - Topshop | Skirt - Topshop | Shoes - Zara |

Today has been a day of leisure... in my mind!
In reality it has been super busy. I have been at work all day and doing lots of extra things since I arrived home.
You know, the boring tasks, the ones that you want to put off but really have to force yourself to do!
I took a nice break and went for a yummy Indian curry and then nipped around town on my bike.
I love riding around Barcelona at night. It's a nice way to cool down and it's when the city comes alive.
I remember first going to a nightclub at 1am when I arrived here thinking 'woh it's a really quiet night, where is everyone?' Little did I know that people don't actually start going to the nightclubs until at least 2. It went from whole dance floor moves to 'help me move to the bar' in about 15 minutes flat after the clock hit 2am. Fun times...

Gypsy chic

Summer 2013 | effortless & edgy |

The other day as I was walking in the heat of Barcelona when I heard some music coming from the distance.
At first I thought it was a loud car stereo but as I became closer to the music, I realised it wasn't a car stereo at all.
Under the bridge below a Catalan gypsy community were in full musical swing. Two men strummed aggressively on their acoustic guitars, occasionally groaning some husky lyrics which resembled an echoing cry. Another man loudly tapped the plastic bucket he was using as a seat. Several of the women danced in the middle. They stomped the dry ground turning the air into a magical sunny spiral of dust as they swished their heavy skirts to the rhythm. The children sat back and observed smiling in wonder…
